The holidays often make us reflect on the love that we have in our lives and what we have to be thankful for. I know that all of us have no shortage of love and gratitude in our lives, so I am making a request for you to share what we have with others.
I serve on the Board of Directors of a non-profit called Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly – an organization working to relieve isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly. Through this organization I met Berta, a 91-year-old woman from who lives by herself, in 2012. Since then, she has become a dear friend of mine, one that I have turned to in times of sadness and in joy. Berta is just one example of the many older adults that Friends of the Elderly serves. The organization is small and only has three paid staff members, yet the impact that they have on the lives of people n SF is tremendous.
