I’m a geriatrician, a doctor who specializes in caring for older adults. I love my job and I love spending my days caring for older adults. Over time, one thing has become very clear to me: connection, respect, and belonging are just as powerful for health as any medical treatment. I have seen how smart, funny, resilient older adults truly thrive when they feel seen, valued, and included. That is why I care so deeply about Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly. Their work tackles something medicine alone cannot fix: Human connection.
This campaign combines everything I believe in. I am training for the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon on June 7th and inviting people to follow along with my journey. Not just as a race, but as a way to build community, talk honestly about aging, and advocate for older adults who deserve better. Through my @Doctorofdone Instagram platform, I teach practical, evidence-based ways to age well while also calling out ageism and the real challenges older adults face every day. My goal is to raise $50,000 by June 7th for LBFE and to use every swim, bike, and run as a reminder that older adults matter, connection matters, and we all have a role in showing up for them.
