Here is why we do what we do!

As 2026 unfolds, I am reminded of the quiet strength of San Francisco’s older adults and the compassionate community that surrounds and supports them.

At Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly (LBFE), we see courage every day: an older adult opening their door after months of isolation, a volunteer showing up week after week, and friendships forming where loneliness once lived. Recently, an older adult told us simply, “You’ve changed my life.”

Rising living costs, reduced social supports, and uncertainty around essential programs like SNAP, housing, and transportation continue to deepen isolation for many older adults in our city.

Over the past year, your generosity made possible thousands of meaningful connections—phone calls, in-home visits, shared walks, holiday meals, and handwritten cards—each one reminding an older adult they are remembered.

In an uncertain world, community and giving remain powerful acts of hope. When you support LBFE, you restore belonging, dignity, and friendship to older adults who might otherwise be alone.

As you consider your charitable giving in 2026, I hope you will support Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly so no older adult in San Francisco feels forgotten—during the holidays and all year long.

That’s the power of community. One visit, one conversation, one friendship at a time.
